 Moving Teeth with Technology As well as the  skills of Dr. Sims and his caring staff, there are many reasons to use Sims Orthodontics. Sims Orthodontics uses the latest proven technology that makes braces less noticeable, improves patient comfort and reduces appointment and treatment time. Especially important is the fact that new techniques can eliminate the extraction of teeth and need for future surgery in growing children. Tooth movement is related to the inflammatory process which requires healing time. With too frequent adjustments, the body's natural healing time is interrupted, causing slower movement of the teeth and more discomfort for the patient. Less Tin in a Grin Less visible, clear or tooth-colored brackets are in some cases available. Clear removable retainers, Invisalign, are used to correct alignment problems on adults. They use 3-D computer technology to translate the orthodontist's instructions into a sequence of aligners.  Sims Orthodontics uses "Space Age" wires that have been developed through the NASA space program. The wires are made from flexible metals that are heat activated. We use the latest brackets that allow for more control of each tooth. These high tech materials decrease the amount of treatment and appointment time and discomfort for the patient. We also use digital photography and x-rays that speed up the time needed to make the diagnosis. The digital x-ray exposes the patient to 10% of the radiation of a typical x-ray. In the Lab Dr. Sims also has an in-house lab, which enables us to offer you a quick turnaround time for your appliances.
